Hello Bodhrán Friends!
I’m totally pumped to share this new online workshop for bodhrán beginners, or those looking to revisit and brush up on the fundamentals of playing bodhrán.
Since the world went online in March 2020, over 1000 bodhrán’eers have joined me from all over the world to learn about this incredible instrument, which is not only lots of fun, but a hugely important part of Irish culture and identity.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
The course will cover :
Week 1: Foundations
Everything you need to get playing, our technical starting point and musical anchor for playing the bodhrán.
Week 2 : Reels
Probably the most important traditional Irish rhythm to know and understand. We will break it down and I’ll teach you some effective reel patterns that will work across the board
Week 3 : Jigs
Everyone loves jigs, and its important we get to grips with them early in our practice as they are often fast and furious! I’ll take you through jigs from the start and I’ll teach you some driving jig patterns to get people dancing.
Week 4 : Syncopated Patterns
Syncopation is where things get groovy! Essentially it’s where we start to push and pull the rhythm by playing off or across the strong beat. In this session I’ll teach you some of my favourite syncopated jig and reel patterns

30 minute one to one session with me to take place at a mutually convenient time after the course has finished.
An email will be circulated one week before the first session with information on how to join the workshop via Zoom.

2. A bodhrán and tipper
