🥁🇮🇪 Back by popular demand! Join us for our third collaborative Bodhrán & Irish Step Dancing Workshop at the London Irish Centre.
This all-ability adult workshop is open to everyone, from absolute beginners to experienced drummers and dancers. Together, we'll explore the rhythms of Ireland through both the feet and the drum in a fun, welcoming, and energetic session.
WHAT TO EXPECT:

Group rhythm warm up
2 x 40 minutes break out sessions to learn the fundamentals of reels and jig rhythms on the bodhrán and with your very own feet!
There will be a variety of rhythms taught for absolute beginners all the way to experienced dancers and drummers, so there is something for everyone!
Group percussion performance using our new jig and reel rhythms.
Everyone welcome to join afterwards for a swig in the London Irish Centre bar, which serves hot, soft and alcoholic drinks as well as a range of Irish snacks and treats! 🍻☕

This is an 18+ event
Do I need experience in Irish dancing and/or drumming?
No experience needed. This is an all-ability workshop and will cater to absolute beginners all the way through to experienced drummers and dancers. There will be something for everyone.
Do I need a drum or Irish dancing shoes?
No - drums will be provided and there is no need to wear Irish dancing heavy shoes. If you have either, please do bring them along!
Can I come alone?
Absolutely! Most people who join our workshops come alone, but you're very welcome to bring a friend too!
What should I wear and bring?
Some comfortable clothing that you're happy moving and potentially sweating in!
Irish dancing heavy shoes/tap shoes/ smart shoes or trainers!
A drum if you have one
Water will be provided, but feel free to bring your own bottle too.

ABOUT RUAIRI
Ruairi Glasheen is an award-winning percussionist, composer and film maker based in London. Obsessed by drums and rhythm from an early age, he made his musical debut on the Irish bodhran at the age of 4. In 2013, Ruairi graduated from The Royal College of Music with 1st Class Honours and recipient of the President’s Award from HRH Prince Charles.
Ruairi leads a truly diverse career in music. He performs with numerous artists and ensembles, collaborates with arts organisations to create high impact and inclusive education projects and is in demand as a presenter, workshop leader and facilitator.
ABOUT JESSIE
Jessie Leach founded Jig and a Swig in 2019 after a competitive career in Irish dancing which included being crowned Great Britain, All-Ireland and North American Champion, as well as placing 3rd in the World Championships. In 2016, Jessie qualified as an Irish dance teacher with An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha, before joining the cast of Riverdance. She has since toured the globe with shows including Celtic Legends, Magic of the Dance, and Celtic Fyre. Career highlights include dancing to a live TV audience of 200 million at the Alibaba Gala in Shanghai, and on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway with Riverdance.
